The New York Empires picked up a win at Twin Cities Stadium, dropping the Twin Cities Northmen, 7-3. Nate Frampton, who finished 3rd in the ABL in innings pitched with 258.2 in 1973, was the difference-maker. In 8.1 innings, Frampton surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 3 runs. The win lifted the New York record to 20-19.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Frampton was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Twin Cities trailing 2-1, Frampton retired Gerald Gross, who popped out.
