Empires Win, 9-8
|
The New York Empires topped the Montreal Habitants by the score of 9-8, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Tim Foster. Foster went 1-2 with a double and 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Empires. Jimmy Bell got the win, improving to 4-1. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Pedro Juarez sewed up the save, his 1st.
Dave Martin, the 25-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Martin contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put New York up, 3-0.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Foster.
With the win, New York pushed its record to 21-17.
