2-1 Win Gets Philadelphia to 20-18
|
The Philadelphia Quakers got a stellar performance from pitcher Manny Salinas, who handcuffed the Brooklyn offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Flatbush Park. The winning pitcher was Salinas, now 4-1. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Bill Kaiser sewed up the save, his 8th.
Philadelphia used a well-timed hit by Dan Campbell to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Quakers ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Philadelphia manager Jeff Green. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The win gives Philadelphia a season record of 20-18.
