Rawlins Hits 2 home runs in Bluebirds Win
Bluebirds third baseman Bob Rawlins left his mark on his team's 7-6 win over the New York Knickerbockers. Rawlins, who finished 2nd in the NBL in wins above replacement with 7.1 in 1968, slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Brooklyn in the contest. The winning pitcher was Jorge Sandoval. His record now stands at 5-2. The right-hander went 8 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits for the Bluebirds. Earning his 8th save for Brooklyn was Bob Hill.

With Brooklyn leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Rawlins hit a sinker from Chris Hull for a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Bluebirds ahead, 3-0.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Rawlins told the Brooklyn Daily.

Brooklyn leads the National Baseball League Eastern Division by 2 games.
