Blockbusters Shut Out Explorers, 4-0
|
Los Angeles pitcher Fernando Lopez had a large part in his team subduing the St. Louis Explorers, 4-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Los Angeles is now 18-24, St. Louis 22-21.
Harvey Katzen came through for Los Angeles when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike sinker to center field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Ray Fleetwood.
