Knickerbockers Sneak Past Industrials, 2-1
|
New York used a superb performance from starting pitcher Tim Fried to down the Pittsburgh Industrials, 2-1. New York reliever Brian Williams picked up the win to move to 1-1. Ray Williams suffered the loss. New York is now 19-22, Pittsburgh 24-20.
Had Bob Marston not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Marston hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Knickerbockers.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker. "The effort was great."
