The Boston Terriers and New York Empires left the fans buzzing.

The New York Empires beat the Boston Terriers, 11-3, at Queens Field. New York center fielder Roger Hickey had an outstanding performance. He went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times. Jon Pierce, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-2. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2.

New York left fielder Dave Martin contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Empires ahead, 5-3.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Hickey.

New York has now won 5 games in a row.
