New York Defeats Pittsburgh, 6-5

The Pittsburgh Industrials got a superb performance from center fielder Tom Crowell, but the New York Knickerbockers still won the game, 6-5. Crowell was 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. New York reliever Jerry Bigelow picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Harlan Estes was tagged with the loss. The defeat makes Pittsburgh 20-23.
New York used a well-timed hit by Quinton Henderson to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Knickerbockers ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, New York manager Sean Kelly applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
