Bobcats Slap 3-1 Loss on Washington
The Cleveland Bobcats got a marvelous performance from pitcher Roger Scherf. The right-hander kept the Washington offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-1 Cleveland victory at Lakefront Stadium. The winner in relief was Joe Clabaugh. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. The loss drops Washington to 0-5.

Cleveland second baseman Benito Olivas helped the Bobcats go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Olivas hit a run-scoring single off Washington pitcher Pedro Nunez.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Olivas said.
