Blockbusters Lose, 2-1, at Corps of Discovery Stadium
|
The St. Louis Explorers got a strong performance from pitcher Harlan Estes, who stymied the Los Angeles offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Estes yielded 1 run over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. His record improves to 5-1. The save went to Robbie Goolsby, his 3rd this season.
The Explorers got a big at-bat from first baseman Tom Adams. For the game, Adams was 3-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave St. Louis a 2-1 lead.
"Tough loss," said Los Angeles manager John Trausch. "This one will sting for a while."
The third-place Explorers have won 5 in a row.
