Quakers Drop Bluebirds, 2-1
|
The rain did not keep Philadelphia and Brooklyn from finishing their game.
Philadelphia pitcher Arnold Jarry did his part in helping his team defeat the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 2-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. At 25-20, Philadelphia is in third place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Philadelphia took a 2-0 lead on Ted Schlener's 11th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Schlener hit in the top of the eighth, left Brooklyn pitcher Kevin Wade visibly frustrated.
"Tough loss," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker. "This one will stick in my craw."
