Knickerbockers Deal Industrials 3-0 Loss
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the New York Knickerbockers and Pittsburgh Industrials.
New York Knickerbockers pitcher Sid Shafer was in fine form, leading his team past the Pittsburgh Industrials, 3-0. Shafer, the winner, moves to 5-3. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Ollie Hundley wrapped it up, recording his 11th save.
The Knickerbockers got a big at-bat from shortstop Larry Fletcher. For the game, Fletcher went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave New York a 1-0 lead.
Fletcher told a New York Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Pittsburgh now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
