Zaruba Twirls 2-0 Shutout
|
In a seemingly effortless performance, Jerry Zaruba of the Pittsburgh Industrials shot down the New York Knickerbockers, 2-0, on 1 hit.
"Jerry was just locating so well and using his pitches," Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Zaruba recorded 6 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," New York manager Timothy Widholm said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
This year, Zaruba has posted a record of 5 wins and 1 loss with a 2.23 ERA. He has appeared in 10 games and struck out 62 in 76.2 innings.
