Knickerbockers Snatch Late-Game, 3-2 Win
The New York Knickerbockers, with some walk-off drama, delighted their fans at Knickerbocker Stadium.

In a low-scoring tilt between the New York Knickerbockers and the Philadelphia Quakers, Dave Torre, who finished 5th in the NBL in ERA with 2.19 in 1968, was the difference-maker. The New York right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win in 11 innings. After today's action, New York sits at 22-23; Philadelphia slips to 17-28.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the 11th, an error by the Quakers allowed the Knickerbockers to score the winning run.

"This game tested our mettle," said Torre.
