Hurons Get 5-3 Win Versus Atlanta
|
Atlanta right fielder Richie Lord was sensational. He was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toronto beat the Generals, 5-3. Mike Beers, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-4. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. Steve Persenaire earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
The Hurons got a big at-bat from first baseman Bill Hunt. For the game, Hunt went 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Toronto a 2-0 lead.
"We'll build on this win," said Hunt.
