New York beat Philadelphia at Quakers Stadium, eking out a 3-2 win. The triumph was primarily due to right fielder Bob Underwood. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. The winning pitcher was Dario Fontanez. He's now 5-3. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Knickerbockers. Ollie Hundley, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
With New York leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Underwood hit a fastball from Miguel Jimenez for a solo home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 3-0.
Underwood attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
