Bluebirds Shut Out Eagles, 3-0
|
Brooklyn rode a good effort from starter Dick Conway to beat the Washington Eagles at Monument Field. The final score was 3-0. Conway, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Tom Keller earned the save, his 1st.
The Bluebirds benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With Steve Emerson at bat and Brooklyn leading 1-0, the Washington miscue allowed Brooklyn to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Emerson told the Brooklyn Chronicle.
Brooklyn, at 22-25, holds down 6th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
