New York Nets 5-4 Win Versus Quakers
New York starter Tim Fried pitched well against the Philadelphia Quakers at Knickerbocker Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-4, in 10 innings. Brian Williams snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Art Wohlt suffered the loss. The triumph puts New York at 23-23 for the season.

The decisive blow was delivered by Bob Marston in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Art Wohlt to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.

"It was a test of wills," said Sean Kelly, the New York skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
