Pobladores Fall Short, 5-4, at Houston
The Houston Drillers picked up a win at Sam Houston Field, topping the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-4. On the mound for Houston was right-hander Syed Farooqi. He played a principal role in the triumph. Houston pitcher Bill Switzer got the win. He's now 5-1. Pete Betzel was tagged with the loss. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Drillers.

Don Martinez went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for Houston. The 30-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Leon Fairley. It was his 15th walk of the season.

"Slowly but surely, the wins are piling up," said Martinez.
