Toronto Slaps 5-0 Loss on Atlanta
|
Toronto starter Bill John put a stranglehold on the Atlanta offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Hurons to a 5-0 win. The winning pitcher was John, now 4-3. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. The Hurons, at 20-27, inhabit 6th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Steve Holley? The Toronto right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Hurons on top, 3-0. For the game, Holley had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Bill mixed and matched," said Toronto manager Jim Burns.
