With Late Score, Bluebirds Beat Eagles

Wet weather did not postpone the Brooklyn-Washington ballgame.
The timely hitting of Ron Freeman helped the Brooklyn Bluebirds down the Washington Eagles, 7-6. Freeman was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Bluebirds. Dave Norman claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 3-4.
Had Jackie Cooper not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Cooper hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Bluebirds.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Freeman.
With the win, Brooklyn has a record of 25-22. Washington falls to 19-27.
