Packers Stymie New York, Take 7-1 Win
The Cincinnati Packers got a stellar performance from pitcher Red Jones, who handcuffed the New York offense en route to a 7-1 win at Roman Arena. In 9 innings, Jones surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Even with the win, the Packers have a dismal 22-44 record.

Joe Rigoli had a big 2-run double for the Packers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from John Ambrose and stroked the double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Packers ahead, 4-1.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch.
