The Houston Drillers picked up a win at Puget Field, knocking off the Seattle Emeralds, 7-6, in 10 innings. On the mound for Houston was right-hander Syed Farooqi. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Bill Footman wrapped it up, recording his 1st save. The win puts Houston at 25-22 this season.

Houston used the timely hitting of Rich Lewis to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Drillers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"This game tested our mettle," said Lewis.
