Knickerbockers Lose to Bobcats, 9-6
The inspired effort of New York first baseman Francisco Chavez was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-6, to the Cleveland Bobcats. Chavez went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The win boosted Cleveland to 26-22.

Mark Bassett had a big 2-run double for the Bobcats in the bottom of the first inning. With Cleveland leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from fan favorite Ray Schifsky and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bobcats ahead, 3-0.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Bassett told the Cleveland Daily News. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
