The Washington Eagles got a stellar effort from pitcher Rich Moreland, helping Washington score a win over the visiting Denver Burros, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Moreland, now 3-4. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. The Eagles raised their record to 19-30.
In the bottom of the fifth, John Stites delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Washington right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Eagles in front, 4-1.
