Allen Goes Deep Twice, Helps Blockbusters Top Dairymen, 9-1
|
The 9-1 Los Angeles win over Milwaukee was due largely to Larry Allen. The Blockbusters left fielder went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Los Angeles pitcher Bruce Shone got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Antonio Cuadra got the loss. The last-place Blockbusters improved to 18-33.
With Los Angeles leading 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Allen came up to bat against Milwaukee pitcher Fred Berry. Allen hit a splitter to right for a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Blockbusters on top, 9-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Allen, "and today was a good one for us."
