Blockbusters Lose By a Run at St. Louis, 2-1
|
St. Louis starter Jack Guthrie had a strong outing against the Los Angeles Blockbusters at Corps of Discovery Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Guthrie picked up the win for St. Louis, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-0. Don Dalton, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Chuck Panetta, who is tied for 10th in the NBL in doubles with 9, aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Los Angeles skipper John Trausch.
The 4th-place Explorers now have a win-loss record of 23-26.
