The Denver Burros handed the San Diego Captains a sound defeat, 11-3, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Chuck Carr was a main contributor to the win. He was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Denver. The Burros have an impressive 33-19 record.

Denver used the clutch hitting of Tom Rosales to snag the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Burros ahead, 8-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
