Detroit Wolverines starter Larry Black pitched a strong game against the New York Empires at Queens Field, leading the Wolverines to victory, 4-3. Black went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-4. The Wolverines have an impressive 33-18 record.

Detroit used a clutch hit from Pete Morrison to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Black.
