Hurons Snatch Late Win
|
Toronto Hurons starter Rick McIntyre was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Detroit Wolverines, 4-2. The winner in relief was Don LeoGrande. He is now 1-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Toronto is 18-33 and Detroit, with the loss, 35-16.
Had Dave Bears not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Bears hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Hurons.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Bears told the Toronto Bulletin.
