Though the conditions were not ideal, the New York Empires and Detroit Wolverines came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The New York Empires defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 12-5, at Queens Field. Leading the charge for New York was shortstop Dave Matuzak. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times. After today's action, New York sits at 31-20; Detroit slips to 32-18.

Roger Hickey was 3 for 6 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for New York. The 27-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth.
