Brooklyn Loses, 3-2, to Washington in 10
|
Washington and Brooklyn played a hard-fought contest.
In a tight tilt between the Washington Eagles and the Brooklyn Bluebirds, Tom McAteer was the difference-maker. The Washington right-hander excelled in his team's 3-2 win in 10 innings. Richie Kingery, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
The Eagles got a big at-bat from second baseman Larry Wools. For the game, Wools was 1-5 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Washington a 2-0 lead.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Eagles manager Juan Placeholder. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
Brooklyn is 3-3 after the loss.
