Quakers Lose Late, 3-1
|
The Cincinnati Packers got a strong performance from pitcher Ramon Juarez, who stymied the Philadelphia offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Quakers Stadium. In 8 innings, Juarez surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Dave Young got the save, the 4th for him this season.
Cincinnati used a clutch hit from Barry Sheridan to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Packers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Sheridan told the Cincinnati Today.
The Packers move to 26-27 with the win, while the Quakers drop to 26-25.
