Eagles Rally to Win
|
New York catcher Andy Covarrubio was sensational. He went 1-1 with a double, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Washington beat the Knickerbockers, 7-6, in 11 innings. The Eagles, at 29-26, sit in 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
The Eagles got a clutch hit from right fielder Alan Cassill. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Eagles.
"Enjoyed this one," Cassill told the Washington Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
