Quakers Deal New York 15-1 Defeat
|
Philadelphia starter Ralph Weintraub ran into little resistance from New York hitters, as his team cruised to victory, 15-1. Weintraub, the winner, moves to 3-5. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up no walks. The defeat makes New York 27-28.
Weintraub had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth to put Philadelphia in front, 2-0. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly off New York pitcher Sid Shafer.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Quakers manager Jeff Green, "I like our chances."
