Packers Deal Industrials 5-2 Loss
|
The Cincinnati Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-2, at Allegheny Field. Cincinnati left fielder Nate Brewer had a superb performance. He was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2. Rollie Rumler, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-4. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 9. Cincinnati, at 27-28, occupies 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Paul Walters, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1965 draft, aided the Cincinnati cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments to the Cincinnati Today, Walters said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
