Briggs Throws 5-Hitter En Route to 10-1 Industrials Win
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials downed the New York Knickerbockers, 10-1, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Stellar pitching by Bob Briggs had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the NBL with a 1.06 WHIP, handcuffed his opponent all game. Pittsburgh goes to 33-23. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.
Briggs was effective for Pittsburgh, seldom allowing the Knickerbockers to square up a pitch. The left-hander tossed 105 pitches over 9 innings. He limited New York to just 1 run on 5 hits.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Briggs.
