Houston Comes up Empty Against Bell
|
In an outstanding outing, New York Empires starter Jimmy Bell tamed the Houston Drillers with a 6-hit shutout at Queens Field today. The New York hurler went the distance, finishing with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 6-0 win.
"He had a lot of first-pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to Houston manager Steven Palps. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today."
Thus far this season, Bell has worked 91.1 innings with 63 strikeouts en route to a 5-3 record and a 3.65 ERA.
