Carlos Chavez had a good game, but he could not keep the Pittsburgh Industrials from falling, 9-7, to the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium. The Pittsburgh center fielder went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in the loss. New York reliever Ollie Hundley picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Bob Cole was saddled with the loss. The 4th-place Knickerbockers now sit at 31-29.

New York got a knockout punch from Ron Freeman. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Freeman said in his postgame press conference.
