Burros Win at Home, 3-2
Bobby Peters, who finished 3rd in the NBL in innings pitched with 281.0 last year, pitched well, but the Chicago Traders still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Denver Burros at Gates Crescent Park. Manny Esparza got the save, the 8th for him this season. Denver sits in first place in the National Baseball League Western Division at 33-24.

Alex Martinez had a big 2-run double for the Burros in the bottom of the third inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Bobby Peters, who finished 5th in the ABL in saves with 19 in 1962, and swatted a double to right. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Burros ahead, 3-0.

Chicago manager Larry Link said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
