Hawks Fall Short, 4-3, at Seattle
|
The Seattle Emeralds knocked off the Chicago Hawks, 4-3, in American Baseball League action at Puget Field. Seattle pitcher and Shaler Township, Pennsylvania, native Leon Finkel had an outstanding performance. In 7 innings, Finkel surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. He allowed 3 runs. Carroll Reynolds closed the door for Seattle, picking up his 4th save of the year.
The Emeralds got a big at-bat from shortstop Tim Clark. For the game, Clark went 1-1 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Seattle a 2-1 lead.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Chicago skipper Mike Flaherty.
The Emeralds now have a record of 25-33.
