In a low-scoring affair between the Detroit Wolverines and the Seattle Emeralds, pitcher Jim Bryant was the difference between victory and defeat. The Detroit right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Wolverines win. In 7 innings, Bryant surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Seattle's current losing streak is now 5 games.
Randy Cowell had a big run-scoring double for the Wolverines in the bottom of the first inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Mike Harris, who is tied for 9th in the ABL with a 2.75 ERA, and swatted a double to right. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 2-0.
