Loss to Knickerbockers Extends Cincinnati Losing Streak
|
The New York Knickerbockers went home winners at Knickerbocker Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Ray Schifsky. Schifsky stifled the Cincinnati Packers, enabling New York to grab the 5-1 win. New York has now won 3 straight, while the Packers have lost 6 in a row.
Wayne Baker dealt the Packers a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and New York trailing 1-0, Baker, who finished 2nd in the NBL in triples with 12 in 1966, hit a first pitch cutter for a 2-run single.
"When I throw strikes I'm good, if I don't I'm not very good," said Schifsky. "So I just have to throw strikes."
