Rumler Hurls 2-0 Masterpiece
|
Magic was in the air and on the mound at Corps of Discovery Stadium today as Rollie Rumler held the St. Louis Explorers spellbound in his 2-0 shutout victory. The Cincinnati Packers pitcher went the distance, rang up 4 strikeouts, walked 4 and held the Explorers to 4 hits to garner the win.
"He just had us in his thrall," St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood said later. "We couldn't put anything together against him."
Rumler has made 12 starts so far this year and put up a 7-4 won-lost record with a 1.55 ERA. In 99 innings he has allowed 68 hits, walked 50 and struck out 66.
