The Houston Drillers had to overcome a fine effort from Dallas pitcher Dario Perez to win, 3-1, at Bluff Park. Perez went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Houston reliever Bill Switzer picked up the win to move to 6-1. Ken Craig suffered the loss. With the win, Houston raised its record to 33-27.

Bobby Jackson had a direct impact on the outcome. Jackson contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Houston up, 3-1.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Dallas manager William Albrecht.
