Dallas pitcher Steve Coomes had a large part in his team beating the Montreal Habitants, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Coomes, now 7-5. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 6. The Dallas win streak is now 3 games.

Dallas catcher Fred Johnson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 40th hit of the season and put the Wranglers ahead, 2-0.

"Tough loss," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon. "But we'll learn from it."
