The Atlanta Generals bested the Houston Drillers by a score of 5-2, with right fielder Buck DeFalco getting the main credit. On the day, DeFalco was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Generals. Atlanta reliever Wayne Grant picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jerry White took the loss. The 6th-place Generals improved to 28-33.

Atlanta pitcher Ralph Weintraub contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 10th hit of the season and put the Generals ahead, 3-2.

In comments to the Atlanta Citizen, DeFalco admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
