New York right fielder Bob Underwood was a significant contributor in his team's 10-2 triumph over the Brooklyn Bluebirds. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Knickerbockers. Danny Abril got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 7 innings. With the win, New York upped its record to 35-25.
With New York leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Underwood hit a knuckleball from Mel Pilgrim for a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 3-0.
"Good hitting and good pitching is a lethal combination," said Underwood.
