Bobcats Fall Short, 5-4, at Chicago
|
The Chicago Traders defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 5-4. Doing his part was left fielder Tim Rathbone, who went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. The win went to Vern Hensley in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Joel Goodyear took the loss. Jimmy Calhoun earned the save for Chicago, his 2nd.
Had Ed White not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, White hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Traders.
"We found a way to get it done," White said.
Chicago has now won 4 games in a row.
