Traders Win by Slim Margin, 2-1
The Chicago Traders received a sterling performance from starting pitcher Randy Birch, allowing them to shoot down the St. Louis Explorers, 2-1. Randy Weisenberg, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 9th save. Chicago now has a record of 38-26 with the win.

Though he didn't earn the victory, Birch kept his team in the game until the bullpen took over and the Chicago offense came through. Over 9 innings, he allowed 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2.

"Randy did a good job of managing their lineup," said Chicago manager Larry Link.
