9 Straight Wins for Bobcats
|
The Cleveland Bobcats faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Gene Steinhauer, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Lakefront Stadium by a final score of 6-1. Steinhauer went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Cleveland reliever Bill Smith was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Ike Travis took the loss. The winning continues for Cleveland, with the latest triumph making it 9 straight.
La Mirada, California-born Alan Romano came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Bobcats trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Cleveland on top.
"The clubhouse vibe is great," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.
