Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Denver Burros and New York Knickerbockers.

The Denver Burros racked up a win at Gates Crescent Park, bumping off the New York Knickerbockers, 5-3. Keith Williams, who started for Denver, pitched effectively for his team. Williams, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.

Guillaume Moret drew 2 walks for Denver. The reigning Most Valuable Player Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Danny Abril. It was his 43rd RBI of the season.

"Keith pitched like a champ," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
