New York defeated Denver, 11-3, in large part due to 28-year old right fielder Bob Underwood. Underwood drove in 3 runs. The right fielder had 1 double and 1 home run for the Knickerbockers. New York raised its record to 31-31 with the win.

Steve Wells helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Knickerbockers.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Wells told the New York Chronicle.
