Seagulls Win, Now 35-26
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the San Francisco Seagulls and Montreal Habitants.
Reggie Wright never let Montreal get something going. The San Francisco right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Seagulls to a 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Wright, now 8-4. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Chuck Porter picked up the save, his 12th.
Darrell Martin, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Martin contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put San Francisco up, 2-0.
"That's baseball," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
With the win, the Seagulls hiked their record to 35-26.
